Anaïs Nin

Set in Paris in the 1930's this play traces the love triangle of Anais Nin, Henry Miller and his wife June. Like many artists of the era who travelled there in search of the aesthetic life -Paris offered an escape from their cultures and the confines of their morality. Paris was vibrant, romantic; everyone wanted to be there. Anais Nin is starting out as an author; Henry Miller is already well known. Anais must tread a difficult competitive path towards literary success. As a writer she seeks emotional intimacy with her reader yet paradoxically her prose only adds to her mystique.

This play has been produced many times including Tokyo in 2015.

ANAÏS NIN was last directed by Wendy in 2019 at the Athénée Theatre Louis–Jouvet in Paris, France.

Under Ms. Beckett’s direction, Ms. Christian as Nin is superb; Mr. Bishins’s Miller –appealingly fierce.
— THE NEW YORK TIMES
Writer—director Beckett has fashioned a compelling biographical rumination with her accomplished cast. As ‘Miller,’ David Bishins is electric, at once rough and sensitive. As ‘Nin’ Angela Christian is physically and attitudinally perfect… Alysia Reiner… as June, is forthright and neurotic…
